What is facial recognition technology?

This technology helps to reduce the congestion at airports by recognizing a person using information technology enabled face recognition. Thus the security queues will be cut short and immigration process becomes shorter.

This helps in two ways.

1. To meet legal requirements for bio-metric entry exit records.
2. Help speed processing of international travelers by matching their real time images with stored pics.

Its fast and user friendly, flexible and cost effective.

In coming future, this system eliminates the use of boarding pass, because the entire airport system will identify a person.

Is this technology in airport available in India?

As of now Bengaluru airport has started proposal to implement this but not yet started.

This technology is used vastly in developed countries like US.

Will KIAL implement face recognition?

KIAL is one of the most technology advanced airport in India, thanks to KIAL board. This technology affinity of KIAL will definitely help implement face recognition in our airport soon after inauguration.

We all know that eating or drinking at airports in India are not at all affordable for a common man.

There are many reasons behind it,

• The cafeterias need to pay a huge fee as rentals, taxes.
• Also the vendors knows, we are stuck in a place where we dont have another option, so if price is hiked, people cant react.
• The vendors also understand that they dont have much competitors so no need of reducing the cost.
• In addition, procuring food and keeping inventory in a small allocated area in airport is also a costly affair for a vendor. 

How can we avoid such costs at airports?

• We can bring empty bottles and refill at airport drinking taps. Empty bottles are always allowed through security checks.
• You can bring food items packed. So we can avoid buying eatables at airports.

Will Kannur International Airport Limited have something changed in food pricing when it opens?

Reports came that AAI(Airport Authority of India ) is coming up with a restriction on price of tea, snacks and food items based on heavy requests from public, MP's. According to sources, the AAI had already directed airports to monitor vendors sell items on MRP in all airports across India.

The AAI pointed that as of now all government run airport will follow this rule, and private aiports will have to take their decision. Which means the KIAL director board will be able to decide on the price of food items at airport. This is a good reason for all Kannurians who travel and eat at airports.

Kannur International Airport Calibration Successful

Airport authority of India had done calibration for Kannur International Airport using one of the calibration aircraft and declared the measures was successful. This has cleared one of the final test for Kannurians beloved airport. Beach craft B350 category aircraft was used for the test and this test involved in calibration of various equipment including Instruments landing system (ILS). Various officials from Kannur International Airport was present at the venue and coordinated all measurement activities carried out by Airport Authority.

Which state has the maximum number of Airports

Additional Testing:
Equipment like Glide path, Signal lights and systems, Localiser were also tested.  The team carried out approximately 5 hours of testing by flying around the airport and testing signals from various angles and heights.

The comments made by the airport authority staff is an ear soothing moment for Kannurians.
The Kannur airport is highly efficient with technology which uses all latest technology and more than that the airport appeared one of the most beautiful from the sky too while landing.

The team will give report to Airport authority of India and civil aviation ministry and this will invoke the final test GDCA (Directorial General of Civil Aviation)

What is Airport Calibration

Airport Calibration includes multiple calibration activities simultaneously, such as structure measurement for Glide Slope and Localiser together with Markers, VOR/DME and NDB or Non-Directional Beacon during one approach.

What is VOR/DME?
VOR/DME refers to combined radio navigation station for aircraft, which consists of two radio beacons, placed together, a VHF omni-directional range (VOR) and distance measuring equipment (DME). VOR produces an angle between the station and the receiver in the aircraft, while DME does the same for range.

Regional Public Health Laboratory Kannur

Regional Public Health Laboratories are intended to provide affordable health lab services including the poor. Kerala has multiple health labs and one of such regional lab is situated in Kannur.

Any one with a doctor prescription for checkups can be approached to regional health labs across Kerala. The charges are nominal compared to a private owned labs. BPL Ration card owners will have free(zero charge) health lab services.
